Business Development Specialist
Location: Brookvale Head Office, with flexible working arrangements
Travel Requirements: Regular travel to New Zealand and Melbourne
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to drive business growth at Shopper Intelligence by securing incremental revenue across new clients, channels, and business streams. Leveraging your expertise in Shopper Intelligence insights, your role will focus on establishing relationships, building trust, and leading sales efforts to expand our footprint in both the Australian and New Zealand markets. This is an exciting opportunity to build on your relationships with senior leadership teams across major manufacturers and retailers. You will be reporting into the CCO and as part of a small team, you have the opportunity to influence the direction of the business, work closely across Marketing, Customer Success and Operations to make a difference to the business, clients and set your own career direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and secure new business opportunities by building relationships with potential clients. Focus on the Shopper Intelligence suite of programs and reports, while actively exploring new channels and growth opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Develop strong relationships with contacts at all levels, including C-suite executives, utilise Shopper Intelligence data & knowledge to create insight teasers, engage clients and build trust.
- Sales Leadership: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to influence business development strategies that align with the overall commercial vision. Create new business development ideas, processes, and strategies.
- Pipeline & Forecasting: Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, ensuring accurate sales forecasting and efficient pipeline management to meet revenue goals.
- Negotiation & Closing: Lead negotiations and close contracts that ensure strong commercial outcomes. Drive sales through innovative solutions and persuasive proposals tailored to client needs. Oversee the contract process from initial engagement through to final close.
- Collaboration & Team Motivation: As a senior leader, motivate and inspire the team, influence cross functionally, fostering enthusiasm for business growth.
- Travel: Occasional travel to New Zealand and Melbourne (approximately every 8 weeks for 2-3 days) to meet with clients and drive business growth in the region.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven Business Development Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, with a successful track record in long sales cycles and driving revenue growth. Preferably with experience in FMCG, Pharma, retail, or an agency setting.
- Expert in Shopper Insights/Research: Strong background in utilizing and developing research or insights, with an analytical ability to translate data into actionable solutions.
- Confident & Resilient Communicator: Ability to engage with a range of senior stakeholders confidently and exhibit strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets, delivering consistent and sustainable revenue growth.
- Passion for Data & Solutions: A keen interest in developing data-driven solutions and a passion for shopper insights.
